Temporarily out of service
Hello to all who usually read this blog...It has been a long time since I posted pics and I'm sorry. For those of you who don't know, I just finished my time in South Asia so the last week or so have been jammed packed with saying goodbyes, getting things sold, etc. Now, I am in Kenya, where the internet is iffy...but I promise to update the sight when I return home to America...sometime around Nov 14. Please check back for more pics!

Today, I went to Muslim market...maybe for the last time. :( It was hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful area.

Today, we went to a themed restaurant...dancing, puppets, mehendi, magic shows, and thali (a typical meal) with our landlord and landlady. It was their son's birthday.

Today, I said good-bye to some friends for a school. Great young girls who are trying to get their education so they can have a good job, marry a good guy, etc. This college girls are in their second year of college...19 year olds who can't imagine traveling, can't imagine a world outside out of their country because it really isn't even a possibility for them...

Photo of the day 10-18-2010...night photos
Today, I took (or at least attempted to take) photos of the night market. This is the crazy tourist place where there is lots of glitter, mirrors, and other work and they try to overcharge foreigners for knock-off stuff.
As I am preparing to leave, I am trying to think of places I wish I had taken pictures, then go there....and take pictures (imagine that!). Today, I went to a huge vegetable market on the other side of town and caught shots of a low end market area and it's lovely inhabitants...anything from selling vegetables to carrying water...

Today was the celebration of good defeating evil. It was also the end of Navratri...so it was the day of fireworks and processionals. This is a beautiful young woman I met while I watched one of the processionals go by. Beautiful...

Part b of today is more Navratri pics...today was the last day so everyone wore their best...they wanted to end with a bang. In America, many people might say some these things might border on gaudy...that is how I know I've been in South Asia for a long time...I think they are beautiful.
